Hi fellas everytime I drive my el I feel as though my speedo is out because all the cars around me seem to be flying past. What is the best way to check if my speedo is out?
besides driving along side someone? Thanks in advance |

I know its a bit crude but you can compare your speed against the speed on a GPS, as the GPS will be more accurate then the speedo.
Someone will probably have a better way but this works well for me.

That's unlucky then lol. If you have an IPhone you can download the Tom Tom app and use that or borrow one?

You might even be forced to take it to a speedo shop, but that might be expensive?

Drive behind someone who has an accurate speedo, and get them to give you a wave when they are doing 100km/h, that's how I do it.

Put the cluster in diagnostic mode (see tech docos)and use the digital reading to calibrate - then adjust the analogue needle to suit.

Snaps method will make it more accurate than the standard needle to because they usually read up to 5km lower from factory.
Another option is find an 'odometer check length' on a freeway, I've seen a few around. If the odo is right the speedo should be to.

There are tons of free GPS speedo aps out there.

Since fitting the XR diff and wheels to my BA the speedo is out by %8 but the odometer is spot on. (if you can believe odometer checks on the freeways.) |

Go and hop on a dyno, $90 and you'll have your answer and you can get them to run it up at any speeds you want because the variation is never linear, so run it up at the common speeds, 40, 60, 80, 100, 110 and you'll know where you stand in any zone, and you get a power run to
