Hi guys,
Got a ef xr8 that am taking out my 347 blown combo with it's harness as it's been modified and putting a stocker back in..... I have got a cheap EL xr8 engine and harness so I was just gonna use that.. Are the ef and el harnesses similar or can be modified to fit? I am just replacing the harness from injectors, maf ect through the firewall to ecu...... What I wad wondering is if anyone has done somthing similar or anyone has a wiring diagram of them both so I can modify it slightly if needed.....

Cheers for the input

Wiring Diagrams are available on some other ford site ;) (ford forums?)

The difference is that the EF has 3 wire fan control, while the EL has 2 wire fan control. The EL unit instead is likely to have SPSS Support (speed sensitive steering, but you can ignore that)

There are some other minor harness differences under the dash, with the links from ECU to dash harnesses having some pins in different spots.

The ECU Harness also has some ABS wiring - and the ABS Units are different.

The best solution is to have another EF ECU Harness as it will bolt straight in (Fairlane ones will work also). The Engine Harness (injectors etc) is the same from both.

you can still use an EL ECU - and will just have to make a small adjustments to suit the dual instead of tripple stage fans - essentially at the ECU end of your harness cut the unused fan wire (now SPSS), and join it to the other low speed fan so that the fan speeds and loads are what the ECU thinks it should have

Cheers for the info......

Think I might just find a EF harness as it will just plug in...... But it's been hard to find one......

So the NF Fairlane harness is the same correct?

And the NF engine should drop in as well? Same power levels ect? Or do I need a xr8 ya recon?

EF, NF, NL, DL, EF, EL, EB, ED , NC V8's were all the same engine. That includes the XR8.

The exhaust made some difference. And the later programming was "nicer" especially in the gearbox, but thats it.

For what its worth - I have an EF EEC Harness here if you cant find one. The Salt/Pepper shaker connectors are missing a clip or two but they work.

You'll still need another engine, and the engine (and gearbox) wiring harness

Hay Nigel...

Yeh I am looking for a harness at the moment, a lot of the wreckers don't keep em when they pull the engine and trans....... So if you keen to sell yours? Only thing I live in perth if it wouldn't be too hard to send.........

I still got my manual trans harness which has not been touched...........see pics.

The injector harness is mostly completely separate from the modified harness except for one wire, which has been joined to modified harness ( it's green wire that was on the tps plug which they have cut and joined into the Holden delco tps ) so I can cut that and re join that green wire to bring it back to factory and Chase up another harness later and re modify it for the stroker combo.. If that makes sense.....
So I can do with just the harness that goes through the firewall I guess

Trying to post some pics of my iPad but there too big, will keep trying...

Chasing up a engine is pretty easy only thing is are maf sensor same EF xr8, EL xr8 NF NL ect.......
Cheers for the help

My Harness is an Auto harness - No big deal - there are a few extra connectors but Im sure you can work it out.

PM me if you want any more info

Cheers
