Hi all.

Just bought an EL Falcon (GLI with normal A/C controls, not climate control) and the air conditioner isn't working. A/C doesn't feel like it's engaging when I turn the A/C on and put a multimeter on the lead going to the A/C compressor and not seeing any change when the A/C button is pressed. Before going down the path of taking it to the professionals I just want to make sure it isn't something simple like a fuse or relay.

I've looked in the fuse panel under the steering wheel, the relays under the coolant tank, lifted kick panels and dropped the glovebox but can't find anything that would indicate that its part of the A/C circuit.

Any help would be great!

Cheers.

2 wires at the compressor?

Shows it here... From the bottom fuse besides the header tank, through the WAC relay, through the pressure switch on the TX valve, and then to the compressor plug... If you have no power at that plug I bet it's because there is low gas and that pressure switch is locking it out...

If you stick your probe in the other pin that goes back to the computer you should see it going to ground when you turn the AC on... Indicating the controls and similar all work...

Cheers,
Tim

Awesome thanks for that Tim! I've had a quick look and I'm getting a switched signal on the output of the relay so I can rule the fuse and relay out. I've located the TX valve and found that there is a plug hanging freely in that area. Losing light at the moment so I might need to revisit tomorrow sometime.

Thanks again for your help.

Cheers.

Pull the plugs off the Tx valve pressure switch and link them with a wire.
Run the engine and operate A/C.
If you can hear the compressor clutch engage, you have low gas.

Not a good idea to run too long without gas (and lubrication), so just short bursts.

So had a chance to play a bit more this arvo. Bypassed the TX valve and compressor kicks in when the A/C button pressed. looks like it's off for a service/regas. Anyone in the Perth region (either close to Belmont, SOR or mobile) you guys recommend?

Thanks again for the help. Much appreciated!!!

Cheers.
