I've just checked mine, and it is definitely the right wire colours you've got.
On mine the pink/black has 12V with the ign to 'on'

The pink/black was the thickest of the pink wires.

You could check the wire continuity from the engine plug to the gearbox, and also bridge the connection on the other half to test the rest to the lights.

The pins you're looking for are 140 and 140 both R-BK (according to the diagram, yes both the same number)

Ran the live wire and all is well and good, reverse lights on in reverse, and off in neutral,

Now i want to know.. can i temporarily do the dodgy and run the live wire to it for a few days till i can put it over the pit? Would it affect anything?

It should be fine, but at least put a fuse at the battery.
And don't park the car and leave it in reverse.

10amp would be fine the same as the original reverse lamp fuse in the fuse block? Wouldnt it?

Well, the fuse is there to protect the wire.
If you used the same size wire as factory, then yes, match the original.
If not, use a fuse that matches the wire.

Alright thanks mate, as i said i dont know much about the electrical side of things ahah,
Ive now done it all and hidden the wire so it cant be seen, and put a 10amp use. The lights work when put in reverse, so im happy for now till i can put it over the pit at dads work, just gotta remember as you said.. the reverse lights stay on even when ign off lol..

And keep trying to find the problem....

Like you said, it only happened after the conversion, it must be something simple.

At least you know you've got the right R-BK wire on the switch.
Just need to confirm you've got the right pink one and go from there.

Yeah, it has to be the right pink one anyway, its the only wire left out of the 4 wire plug, im assuming the wire has just broken abit further up from when me and dad were soldering the resistors in, i just dont want to spend too much time under the XR with just a jack. You know? Safety and all. Lol

Good idea. Jack stands are a must.
Or spare tyres under the wheels.

Thats a good idea.. old chaser rims would do the job yeah?

I usually put a few blocks under the chassis if i only need to lift one corner, and just rest the weight evenly on the blocks and jack.

Kind regards, Tait.
