Hi everyone, first post here. I've got an AU falcon ute (11/99) and it is immobilised. I've tried whacking BEM, leaving key on ignition with doors shut for 30 minutes and also 45 and still nothing. The smartlock symbol is still constantly flashing. I really need help with this and have been directed here by a Facebook user. Any help is much appreciated

EDIT: This exact thing happened 4 days prior and i just wiggled the under bonnet relays and it started but no luck this time. This time and the last time I had left the radio on for 30 minutes+ without the engine running. It will wind over if I bridge the starter motor relay but no spark.

I've changed to my spare key since this happened last time in the hope it wouldn't happen again but it has. Neither key works this time.

If Troy's right and it's smartshield and neither key works it may be in the barrel? You really need to get the codes checked and see what dtcs are stored...

Cheers,
Tim

Will I need a scan tool for that? Or Is there another way? Thanks

if that's the case, to me it seems like a bad key reader or the bcm is faulty.

So call an auto elec? Or should I replace the bcm or key reader?

I would contact a auto elec, because if you change the bcm you will then still need to get it coded to the ecu by auto elec or ford... you will also need to code the keys to that bcm
unfortunately smartshield it a little more difficult to swap out bcm then smartlock..

I've got a locksmith coming today to reprogram the keys to the BEM. For $220 I hope it's the problem!!

Okay it didn't work. The keys are programmed but the smartshield light is constantly on when the ignition is on. Also the door locks don't cycle when I try to pair the central locking remote

If you change the BEM you will then need to have 2 keys programmed to it and then have the BEM linked to the Engine computer with a suitable scan tool ie.FORD etc. as Troy has said -
test ALL your fuses with a test light first -
wriggle connections to BEM incase a bad connection in BEM - does central locking work ? have vehicle scanned for codes before you disconnect to much or any codes may be introduced .

I've checked all fuses with an ohmetre, wiggled connections and central locking worked till a locksmith reprogrammed the keys in and the demister trick didn't work to program the keys in. Nothing would make the locks cycle. I've disconnected BEM once after the problem started. Getting codes checked means more $$! Damn it
