This may sound like an odd thing to do but I want my BA v8 to crank for an extra couple of seconds on start-up due to the bad oil galley design of the 5.4L 3-valve V8. (oil goes bottom left to top right head)

I've spent a few dollars on upgrades and extras like most of us and want to protect them by increasing the crank time so oil has the chance to get to all the Journals before firing up.

Is there any simple ways to do this?

I've considered putting a switch to the crank angle sensor so the car cranks but won't fire but would rather have an "automatic" set up.

whats the dfference between cranking and idling....
its still going to take time to build oil pressure, it will take more time to build pressure cranking than if actually starts.........

If it's cranking the timing chain tensioners can be fully pressurized with oil the cam phasers can be fully pressurized the very last thing that gets the oil, the driver's side camshaft bearing journal can form a hydrodynamic wedge so the aluminum cam tower doesn't spall and stuff my engine. If it's running there are a lot more forces acting on internals.
Oil pressure is a known problem in these engines and causes several catastrophic issues.

Do you have a suggestion for a cranking delay?

a crank driven pumps not going to pump enough oil at cranking speeds.
if your that concerned, fit a moroso / accusump oil accumulator instead
