hey guys, my father inlaws BF wagon has been having some electrical issues, i got my multimeter out and put it across the battery with the engine running, only getting about 13.23 volts, i put the high beams on and the volts didnt move at all, got my parter to rev the car to around 1500-2000rpm with the high beams on and off and there was only a small change in the reading, never went near 14V...is the alternator likely to have shat it's self?

then the alternator is charging. it may not be charging enough but it is charging so it isnt dead. could be the reg on its way out.

thats probably your best bet. but just double check all your connections are tight and clean first

Being a BF I would be suggesting you buy a NEW one rather than a SECOND HAND unit. Take it to an Auto electrician and find out for sure, he should be also able to supply a new Reg for yo. If you DO buy a NEW or USED Alternator, make sure it is BF and NOT BA, they are different.
