Hi folks, anybody out there bought a J3 chip from T.I. Performance and had problems? If so, what were/are the symptoms?

I got one from T.I. performance. Put into an EL ECU and installed in my ED. Car wouldn't run for more than a couple of seconds. Turns out because I hadn't yet put in the big injectors and pump that the tune was made to suit, it was having a sook. Changed the fuel system and then it ran perfect. Jason at T.I was a pleasure to deal with. Very helpful.

Mine was in my EB with mild mods for 2-3 years, never once experienced a problem due to the J3!

It actually made the car run/drive better then standard for what I thought was a small amount compared to getting it dyno tuned.

The cars sitting now and gets started once every few months and it still starts and runs with the J3 in it...

Not yet, as I don't know if the chip is at fault yet. The main symptom is no spark, yet injectors pulse.

Other main symptom is that after starting (eventually. after a lot of bad language) it may idle for say 90 seconds, and then simply stop. Tacho starts to waver a bit before it stops, and it starts to miss a bit.

Replaced:
* ignition unit
* distributor internals (including bushes)
* coil
* battery
* fuel pump

I haven't yet pulled the chip out to see if it makes any difference. That is my next step

Try the troubleshooting section of the install guide at http://www.tiperformance.com.au/Technic ... 20Chip.pdf

Otherwise suggest removing the chip if you suspect it may be the cause, and PMing or emailing us if you need any more help.

Cheers,
Jason

Just to let you know it wasn't the chip, it was the ignition module. Went through 4 modules before finding one that worked properly!!

Cheers
