Hi.
Not sure if this is where I should be posting but yesterday I noticed my speedo wasn't illuminated. After a while I tapped on the dash plastic and it illuminated again. Then at about 7pm I noticed my interior light wasn't going off, even after locking doors. So because I didn't want the battery to go flat I decided to take the interior light bulb out, but, as it was hot and I didn't know what else to use as it's firmly in place I used pliers. Yes, dumb, understood. The car went black and there was a fizz and spark, and I lost smart lock. The smart lock light neither flashes nor stays on. It's gone altogether. All other instrumentation works, but car won't start. Tries, cranks, but doesn't fire. I can't even open boot with remote. Would this be a fuse, the battery, alternator or bcm/bem ??? The latter is what I'm thinking. Cheers

Refit your interior light globe and check your fuses.

Hi. I rang my local Ford dealership and they also advised checking fuses, which I did, pulling them out one by one. Turned out to be the courtesy lamp fuse and a 60c fix. As soon as I replaced it I was good to go. So relieved. I did also put the bulb back in and it stayed on again, so will happily make do without one for the time being. Thanks. ;)

light staying on will more than likely be a bad door switch, *edit, just read your doors are locking, so probably wont be the switches.

No idea, and will eventually replace bulb but ok without interior light for now. Maybe there is still an issue as tonight when I pulled up I noticed the ignition illumination light didn't go off, and this is since I replaced a separate fuse to the one I needed, so will go see if the light is still on in a tick and if so deal with that one tomorrow. Cheers :)

Yep. Still on. Doubt it will drain battery. Will take other fuse out tomorrow and see what happens. Cheers :D
