I am starting work on my AUII Fairlane V8 project. Basically replacing the engine with a V8 Supercar one running on E85, autotrans with TCI 6 speed based on 4L80E. The challenge is for it to be streetable around 600fwhp.
The EECV is to be replaced by a Motec M800.
It would appear that the disable features of Smartshield could be an issue.
What exactly is the relationship between the EECV & Smartshield?
What does the EECV require from Smartshield in terms of data etc & vice versa?
I know when I ousted the EECIV in my ED the smartlock was not an issue.
Is this the same with Smartshield?

Richie

Same as ED, Smartshield is controlled by BCM not ECU.

Just to confirm - so the EECV only disables fuel injection &/or spark.
The starter is controlled by the BEM (as per smartlock).
So if the EEC isnt there, only the starter circuit is disabled. The BEM doesnt look for a 2 way communication with the EEC & vice versa.
Where can i find out what sort of signal the BEM sends to the EECV to disable / enable engine running? I think i can setup the M800 to do the same.
I gather that the BA's onwards the BEM /EEC /PCM are all coded & must interact with each other for the vehicle to run.
