hey I was was driving home from darts today and just out of the blue on the highway my EL XR6 just cut out on me so I pull over into the service lane and turn the key back to off then started it again and everything was in working order like normal. now could there be like a loose wire somewhere or a faulty ignition barrel? maybe a earthing problem? by the way its cant be the tfi modular or the coil cause there only like a month old.

Mine was doing this sometimes along with locks cycling, headlights turning on, no interior light and other weird crap and I immediately thought the BEM. Turns out the neg battery terminal was just loose and the battery was cutting in and out when driving, nice to have an easy fix for once.

could be TFI module, coil, dying fuel pump or ECU issue.

I have had TFI and J3 chip cause the car to just die...TFI was the annoying one seeing it is harder than just unplugging the J3 out and running it on stock ECU. Coil has died on me as well, but after letting it sit for a bit, it sometimes starts up again.

well the car did it again today it just cut out early in the morning on the way to work. I notice when it does cut out it only does it when its climbing up to the speed eg: like 80kms then it would cut out. do u think it has something to do with the auto transmission maybe?

Started straight up then went for another 5 mins then stall again.
Was pump overheating or some shlt.

New pump no worries.

wont be the auto, I'd be more looking towards the coil or TFI as mentioned, but make sure all your engine earths are good, and make sure you don't have any loose wires.

I think ive found the problem I went to jaxtyres to get new tyres on and after they just finish with the car halfway off the ramp the car stop again they couldn't get it started so I was guessing it had to of being the tfi module or coil but problem is I replace those part about a month ago so it couldn't be that. they told me at jax that there was no spark which then in my case it lead to the coil or tfi module but later on I went back there to try and start it but no go so id check the 30A ENG fuse while im there, pull it out and put it back in and then car started. I notice the fuse link in the fuse was abit corroded so I replace the rest that look like the 30A one

Hi,

If you haven't got it fixed yet, don't rule out the Dissy module. Just because it is new doesn't mean it wont fail. If you didn't put enough heat-sink compound on it, that may be a reason enough.

well just went out to try and start the car so I could move it into the drive way from off the side of the road where I parked it last night after we got it off the trailer and it started for about 10 secs then it just died again. if anyone can lead me to either the dizzy or ecu relay than it very much appreciated cheers.

Do the dash warning lights come on when it dies? (ie charger/oil pressure etc??)

If they don't, I'd be looking at loose main connections, fusible links etc??

Mine is doing it too (no lights on dash board when dies) and have not yet had a chance to sort it out, but that's probably going to be a good place to start!!

Next stop will be the ignition barrel after that for me!!!

Phil
