my brother had the same problem with his car(fairmont ef), after taking it to a million places we finally found out that it was because, when ford made the airbag system, it was designed for two airbags so if you only have 1 their will be a spare wire lying there doin nothing. over the years the wires play up and get wreked. so just take it to your local ford machanic and he should fix it in a couple minutes

im not exactly sure where the wire is, since the ford machanic fixed it.
my brother drove his car like that for more then 2 years and no problem arose.

how bout try this 1st, search for ecu diagnostics and find where it tells you how to reset the alarms on the ecu as that's what happened to mine after the power dropped low.

This may sound really stupid..... but check you reverse lights to see if they work and the fuse is not blown....

no kidding, I had a d**k trans selector thingy that wont let you start in gear... and it kept blowing the reverse light fuse and the dam airbag light stayed on till I replaced the fuse, which of cause would blow again as soon as I moved the t-bar, took me ages to figure it out.......

Probably all that's needed is to clear the Airbag memory.
