when swapping an au series 2 ecu do you just leave the car sitting with ignition on and wait for the door locks to cycle before attempting to start it, or seeing it has smart-shield does it need to go to ford?

I've swapped mine out and not had a problem, however, it's smartlock in au's as far as I know, even the ba hard smartlock. it wasn't untill the bf that smartshield was introduced to the best of my knowledge.

So in answer to your question, due to lack of others, I think you should be fine. If not factor in a trip to ford :P

Smartshield came in with the AU2 unfortunately so in the absence of tricks of the trade it looks like a trip to Ford

sorry it was the key coding or something that started later. apologies.

Mines an 2000 auII xr6vct if it helps. I think the computer has to match the bcm, if it does they don't need to be programmed? not clear.
