I have put a EL XR8 engine into my 67 Mustang...I have most of the wiring, the ECU and TCM however I do not have the BEM or ignition. Is there an easy way to send a signal directly to the ECU and completely by pass the problem of not having a BEM?

Or would it be easier to have a trip down to the wreckers and pull one out of another car and rewire that way?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone does know the answer and doesn't want to post in a public forum I can supply an email address if that helps.

You can get the Smartlock disabled in the ECU, with a chip.

There's also a ~$300 smartlock bypass unit, but I don't know if that fixes the ECU or the BEM (ie. you may still need a BEM).

Or yeah, wire up the rest of the BEM and a smartlock ignition barrel/lock.

Do a search on "smartlock by-pass" theres a guy in WA on here who sell's 3 wire Smartlock bypass's for $150-.
Got one from him myself, works a treat.

Earth, 12V and a signal wire that goes straight into the ECU at pin 4. 5 min install too easy.

Cheapest and easiest you'll find.

Very hard to wire up a BEM yourself.
