got an issue i cant put my thumb on

fuel gauge keeps reading full

but when key is in the on position before starting it reads the actual level but once the pump powers on / engine is running it seems to read full

have cheeked imp on the float it isnt perfect but its in spec of 0 for empty and 180 for full

A short in the wiring maybe? Bad earth?
