Hi folks,

I'm currently trying to find the files I need to load onto my Quarterhorse so that I can run the car.

I'm really after 2DCA but can anyone recommend another option? ECU that the QH is installed on is a 3DFA.

Needs to be manual and for 24lb injectors.

Failing that I'll have to buy a custom tune from T.I Perf.

Under the EA-ED bin's/def's there is a '2DCA' with manual trans. I'm guessing those are what you need? (that's if the bin's and def's between different brand J3 are compatible which I assume they are)

I looked at those a while back but it says that smartlock is "off". Am I able to change this myself in Tunerpro or BE?

I just downloaded both the 2DCA files and pulled them into TunerPro. Can't believe how many parameters there are  (although there's lots of ### which I'm guessing is not yet defined)

For some reason I couldn't get the 2DCA_256k_v7.xdf" to work with the 2DCA_256k.bin, some of the values in the parameters didn't look right (were either zero'd out or set at 255) and couldn't find anything to do with Smartlock :?. Had to look through the definition directory and downloaded the "2DCA.xdf" which is an earlier version, but it seems to work fine.

I did notice there is a note saying in one directory; "appear to have smartlock off". I had a quick look once I pulled those files into TunerPro and the switch for Smartlock Enable has the "Set" box ticked which would mean Smartlock is on.

Awesome, cheers for that Nathan, I just downloaded TP and the two files, the older XDF and the 256k BIN.

So I'm assuming that it's ready to load onto the ECU just like that? I was trying to find where to turn EGR off but all the parameters have ### so I didn't want to mess about.

No worries Mason :). It's always good mucking around with these things, I'm finding it very interesting. Hopefully learning a bit more about the tuning side of the 8's will help me WHEN I get 5.0

They should be good to go as is. Just bring both those files into TunerPro and Upload it to the chip, then Verify the upload to make sure it worked. If all is successful, give it a try in the LTD and see how it goes :)

How's the LTD going anyway's mate? Had much luck with getting it running better or is all down to getting the tune spot on now?

I'm quite excited about learning to tune, although I still need to hook up my wideband.

You will be sorted when you get the 5.0! Been thinking about it more have you?

I finished replacing the lower intake yesterday but it's raining again now so will have to wait until tomorrow to put the upper on and load the tune to fire her up. It's always bloody raining!!

Then I just have to do a ball joint for WOF and it's good to go, hopefully a lot better this time!

Good stuff! Rain sucks, luckily we haven't had too much of it up this end. Funnily enough, I just managed to get my wideband kit hooked up today haha.

I have been thinking more about an 8, definitely. Couple of weeks back I had a very keen eye on a couple of XR8 utes. I've got them in the back of my mind all the time now lol. Either that or wait for prices to drop down a bit and eye up a BF XR8 ute and have a play with that.

Anyways man, keen as to hear how you go with the tune. Should be awesome to finally tie in all those nice TFS goodies with a good tune :)

I see quite a few nice XR8's on TM up your way, stick to an E series 8 man. Will give you far less headaches than a B series.

I tried uploading the tune to the QH this avo but I can't work out how to do it properly.

I have the .bin and .xdf loaded into Tunerpro RT, emulation on and QuarterHorse is visible on the bottom task bar and then I upload to emulator, verify.

But when I turn the key the fuel pump stays priming as if there is no tune on the QH. Is there an easier way to send it to the QH? I was expecting a setup similar to BE where you just click the horse and it tells you its writing/verifying to the chip.

Do I need an ADX file too? I currently just have XDF/Bin loaded.

Hmm, that's weird :?. Which version of TunerPro are you using? The only way of putting the tune on the chip is via uploading it using the software AFAIK. All you need is the .xdf and .bin files loaded.

Usually when you upload, it'll have a little status bar in the taskbar of the program. It'll load and if all is good, the bar will turn green, beep and say 'Successful'. It'll do the same if the verify is successful too.

I guess what you could do, is connect the chip to the programmer, go in to TunerPro (but don't load any bin in TunerPro) then click 'download' to pull the current bin from the emulator into TunerPro. I guess that'll tell you whether or not the tune has uploaded to the chip or not (if it downloads the 2DCA bin into TunerPro, theoretically it should have uploaded successfully).

Have you tried uploading the files through BE?

Also, did you make 100% sure the J3 port on the ECU is completely clean and the chip is seated correctly? I know when the chip has contact issues on the port it'll play up and cause those sort of symptoms.

The bin loads into BE but the strategy hasn't been converted for use on BE, and I have no idea how. It's just filled up with a lot of 255's and 0's.

Pretty sure it's the latest version, It's prob' going to be easier If I run out to the car and take a quick vid of what I'm doing. You or someone else will be able to tell if I'm doing it wrong or right just by looking at it.

Gimme 10 :P

Yep, those 255's and 0's = no good, so that definitely won't work. I wouldn't have the slightest clue with what's involved in trying to convert it. Hopefully you'll be able to get it working with TunerPro.

Will take a look at that vid once it's up.

Alright, so I'm using V5 RT.

I took a quick vid that shows me plugging the USB cable in, TP loading the QH and then loading files to emulator and verifying. I turn the key on and the fuel pump keeps buzzing.

It's just uploading to Youtube now, will link you once done.

I downloaded the bin FROM the QH and it's just the 34kb file of nothing that comes with it. So I'm obviously not writing it correctly. :?

Haha, no worries dude.

You're doing it right though, same way I've loaded my tunes with TunerPro, so no issue there. TunerPro is recognizing the programmer once it's connected and all so that's good too.

Although, I'm at a loss as to why it goes through the status bar twice when uploading, and twice when verifying :?. Usually, it'll reach the end of the bar once, and that's it. Not sure if that's anything to do with the problem, but that's the only thing I can pick up on.

If it's not downloading what's been uploaded to the chip, it would be safe to say, it's not being uploaded correctly (not the method, but rather just the transfer of data). Sorry, can't be of much help mate. Maybe contact Jason @ T.I Performance and see if he can shed some light on this?
