ok I've had this on going "great" idea of putting an ef xr8 v8 into a 67 mustang. All so far has gone well and I have hooked up the ECU, TCM BEM and ignition barrel and just wanted to confirm a few things.

I have hooked up the green/yellow wire to the BEM to give it some juice and tried the start key. There is power going to the starter motor (Haven't hooked it up yet) so I'm assuming that the immobilisation part of smartlock is working and it is allowing the engine to crank. Now for the question...Is it possible for smartlock to allow engine cranking and no injector operation? I have kooked up a light for the smarlock but this doesn't work...which funny enough leads to my next question.

Other than attaching a light to pin A9 (blue coloured wire) is there anything else I need to do to get this light working? Does it operate with the instrument cluster?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

So can you say that if the engine will crank then I have avoided a smartlock issue and I can move onto the next thing?

ELECTRONIC IMMOBILISATION SYSTEM - SMARTLOCK (All Series)
The electronic immobilisation system is designed to protect the theft of the vehicle.
The BEM controls the smartlock functions, and the electronic lock assembly that contains an electronic device with stored security codes.
When the ignition switch is turned on, the BEM asks for 3 security codes from the electronic lock assembly.
If at least 2 of these 3 codes are correct, then BEM will enable the starter motor to operate.
The BEM also communicates with the EEC-V engine management system, which only allows the injectors to operate if the BEM receives the correct security codes from the electronic lock assembly.
This prevents the motor from being started, if the starter motor is "Hot wired".

Cool, thanks for that. I'm just glad I didn't melt anything when I connected that battery
