Yes that’s right stolen along with the keys.

It’s a 1995 fairmont, can any BCM be fitted ? we have a EL wreck that we can pull BCM and ing barrel from but not much point if it wont work.

Can these be swapped ?

What effect would the wrong colour BCM have?

What would the correct colour BCM be for a Fairmont be.

Can the smart lock function be disabled by joining the R/b wires so the EL ing barrel can be used? It has no smart lock keys.

nope, need an EF 'Green' BCM
EL type wont work / fit.

Lower series have reduced functions like variable wipers etc.
The fairmont BCM controls variable dash illumination, antenna etc etc.

You cannot manipulate smart lock with a dead short.
its 'coded' its a little more advanced than a datsun 120Y.

You can Use an EL Ignition barrel in an EF. and program the EL BCM to suit.

Ok thanks after reading heaping of stuff I have found that mod is for the dodgy starter fix and not a bypass.

I also found the smartlock is actually quite dumb and doesnt have a chipped key, but just an opto system to check lock has been turned.

Now the next question is, the streering lock has been removed from the columb as the smart a*** looked the wheel at full lock preventing the car from being moved.

So the simple fix will be to just replace the cylinder with the spare EL one that doesnt have smart lock.

So how can the old cylinder be removed without a key to get it into the acc position.

Can it be done on the bench or is it a lock smith job?
