Has anyone tried running the EF V8 TCM with a "pink 4" sticker and compared it to running a "green 6" sticker tcm? I have some reports that the green "6" sticker tcm has different shift points but after an hour on the search function I could not find any confirmation anywhere on the site. Any direct comparison info appreciated.

Question also copied into gearbox section

I am currently running the green stickered TCM in my NF from my bro-in-laws EF XR8 option 20 ex HWP in his car it shifted at 5700 full throttle, whereas my NF shifted at 4700 (pink/purple sticker), now mine is shifting at 5300 flat stick in auto, but its only been in for a day, and I haven't had much time to flog it around it also wont pull down to 3,2,1 etc like my old one did, but I am purchasing another unit as we speak in case his is crook - he has some auto issues atm with his car, will keep you posted.

Thanks, this is just the first-hand information I'm after. I found another post where you mentioned this previously, but at that time it was noting the difference between your car and another car. Now it's the same car and the difference between tcm's in the same car which is exactly what I'm after.

FWIW all the green-sticker tcm's I have came from XR8's, and the pink-sticker tcm's came from Fairmont, Fairlane, LTD V8's. ie. non-performance applications.

I have found a 1 byte difference in the ecu binaries between 4DKx (XR8) and 4DEx (other V8's) that I can't assign to anything, so I assume it's maybe related to the data line output which could explain the shift point rpm difference. Then again, it may just be tacho needle inaccuracy between your car and his.

Any updates appreciated

OK I put in the "new" TCM (exact same part no. as the other) still shifts higher but it still won't pull down past third, if you pull it to third it changes down but if you then pull it down to second, it goes back to drive - just like it did when the inhibitor switch failed! So now I'll change that again  and see what happens. I'm starting to wonder if there is a special sequence / process needed when changing these and I'm doing it wrong by just unplugging one and plugging in the next one!

Thanks for the update. It sounds like the gear position switch is dodgy. I just unplug, unscrew, replace. No special technique. Try a diagnostic scan before doing anything. The transmission diagnostics aren't that helpful, but I'd give it a go first

Hrrmmmph! the switch is only a few months old - bought new from Ford! A scan would be nice if I could do that!

I shall endeavour to dig out my scan tool Mr Rossco for you to use.

Does this mean that Green = 3.45 ratio, and pink = 3.23

As well as the shift points changing?

I have an EF XR8 that looks like ending up in an EB Ghia - but the diff ratio will be changing

No. I have 2 x EF XR8's, S1 & S2, both with "green 6 stickered" tcms and normal 3.27 V8 ratio diffs.

Well, I changed the inhibitor switch, still no difference so I might have to see about running a scan somehow!

You should've followed xafalcon's advice and done the scan first.
The other thing is what is your inst cluster indicating for gear position, it doesn't tell you the actual gear you're in, but does give you selector position - if that's fine, then there's most likely nothing wrong with the inhibitor switch.

Well I would've scanned first if I had any idea how or what to do but I did have another switch handy , so you do what you can eh!
