I have a EL XR6, pretty much stock standard and 5 spd manual. Have had some wierd idle issues and it appears to be a problem in the ecu. Have found a EL falcon sapphire at the wreckers that is also a 5 spd manual and still has the ecu intact. My question is will the ecu from a falcon do the job in an xr6 or am I going to have to not be such a tight a*** and buy the new one from ford?

The XR6's have different ECU's ... bit more expensive.
If you put a non XR6 ECU in it it will change the timing and not run as it should, which means you will lose power. |

how do u know its a problem in the ecu?
whats the idle doing? and when is it weird, hot or cold?

Problem might be with the ISC unit or even the TPS - they do funny things if you hvaen't cleaned them in a bit.

and if you need a new ECU don't get one from Ford ... hunt around and you'll pick one up much cheaper!

whats the idle doing? and when is it weird, hot or cold? When I say wierd, I mean very slight rough idle and the revs take way too long to come back to idle. The further you take the revs, the longer they take to come back. The reason I am thinking ecu is the diagnostic alarm codes said 118 - cts voltage high, replaced cts, and 122 - tps voltage low, replaced tps, cleared alarm codes and have been driving it for a week and still the same problem and no codes are being displayed (111). Doesnt matter whether hot or cold and have also changed plugs, leads and thermostat, checked base idle, checked timing, cleaned throttle body, swapped map sensor, swapped isc. pretty much done everything else there is.
