Hi,

Does anyone have a wiring diagram... ie what pin is what for the ECU in an EL XR8???

I'm trying to wire in a wolf 3D and would really like some assistance in the pin-outs in the stock ECU..

I'd rather use the factory loom instead of running a whole new one.

Thanks,

Damian

BUMP!!! Also are the V8 EECIV and V very similar with their pinouts ie number of pins and positions?

In my manual I have the wiring for the fuel injection on EF & EL being the same. The TCM side is different.

Give me a couple of days and I will scan the pages for you. I take it you have the 104 pin plug.

No, vastly different - 60 pin V 104 pin. You should be able to use an EF 6 cyl ECU plug and relocate wiring over (that is, cut and splice).

The ECU pinouts are nearly the same - electric fan pin outs are different, maybe some others too.

I won't have access to a copier for a few weeks, so you'll most likely post first.

I have found this diagram on the PC and remember using it when I wired in the xr8 to the muz. It is from an AU but from what I can remember the pins were the same, apart from cam/crank sensor which my one didn't have.

Will get around to scanning in some wiring diagrams if you need them.

ON my other document I have..

I probably have more written down in my project book. if you get stuck on a particular pin I can dig it up.

Do you need the pin outs for the auto TCM?

Hope this helps!

Ah, hence the solenoid control pin outs on the diagram.

Thanks again. This has been very helpful. I have more questions though. Is there much of a difference between ED engine bay looms and those found in EF-ELs? The only difference would be the airbag wires dont you think?

I'm unable to help you there as I only needed the wiring for EF and I have a solid steering wheel as an airbag!

Add electric fans in there also. EF/EL's run electric cruise control. The ABS systems were different ED-EF/EL, Bendix then Bosch (although you'll probably retain the earlier Bendix system.
Otherwise they were both SEFI and TFI/coil ignition, so shouldn't be overly different.
Only other thing I'm not sure, did the V8's follow the I6's for knock sensors, i.e. ED No, EF/EL yes.

Oh yes, oops I forgot about those thermo fans. I wont have to worry about the knock sensor as the Windsors have many noises/harmonics that it would drown a knock sensor silly. Seeing the cruise is different, I'll get the EF cruise too. I've got my hands on a EF-EL V8 wiring diagram although it's a crappy ellery one. Having a look through it, one thing that looks the same is the wiring for the climate control setups between the ED and EF so I might be on a winner there.

All the peripherals are interchangeable for the Climate control, except for the dash units - the cabin temp sensor is integrated inside the EF/EL CC unit.

Ok, I went crazy on an EF Fairmont 4.0L today and I got the entire dash with the cluster, trip computer and climate control. I managed to get the console and steering column mainly for the updated electronic cruise control. I got the cruise module and engine bay loom which goes from the rear of the dash(near fuse box) routes underneath drivers front guard and under coolant bubble tank. It then wraps around the front of the car to the ABS pump and relays for the thermo fans. I can say that the ABS, cruise control and the airbag are all independant from the EECV as there are no direct imput/outputs.

Question: Where does the ABS control module hide on an EF?
Question: Does the green BEM have Smartlock built in?
