I have an EL wagon that copped a bit of a hiding 1 night at a party a few months ago, my brother was driving when it come to a stop, pretty sure it just ran out of fuel. Trying to get it going again yesterday, put 20L of fuel in but it wont start. Can hear fuel pump priming, has good spark at all plugs, I pulled fuel rail off and all injectors seem to be working. It occasionally fires however sometime it stops cranking as if hydrolocked so I disconnected fuel relay and it cranks its heart out. Any ideas anyone?

Is it flashing fast or slow?

Does it go out after the ignition is turned to reds?

It's flashing once a second. When key is turned to reds it stays on for about 4 seconds then goes out

sounds like it could be distributor tfi mine did the same and changed the dizzy and away she went ,not the easiest thing to change ,remove the air box pop the cap off and wriggle it to the right leave the leads on if possible, mark the rotor button position then remove it and the black plastic start finish spacer then disconnect the plug from the TFI undo the 13mm bolt clamping the base of the distributor ,move it back and forth whilst pulling up can be very tight make sure the hex drive shaft in the bottom stays located in the oil pump if it does come out make sure it goes back in ,when fitting the new dizzy make sure it goes all the way in with the clamping plate touching the block no gap under it ,this can take a bit of time to get it to drop in and line up with the rotor button mark as the timing adjustment range is quite small so keep trying it will eventually go in .

Thanks for the reply, but I found the problem yesterday, I figured it had to be timing so I had dizzy cap off having a look, had the daughter crank the engine and noticed rotor button was pausing. So I ripped out the dizzy and found auxiliary shaft gear is missing a few teeth. BUGGER. Feel a bit stupid for not checking timing before this post. The car is only a farm wagon so I might let the young fulla change the part out for some experience.
