are the ecu's from eb-el v8 all the same?? ie will any of them work in each car?

There are some differences

EB Early V8's had a APS (atmo pressure sensor - looks like a MAP)

EB II on to ED (I think) deleted it, so would be different.

EB -> ED used fairly simple Method to communicate from ECU to Trans controller
EF -> EL used a lot more data across that link.

EF -> EL also had DOL (data link) with data to dash and to climate control

EF -> EL had thermo fan control

So most likely not compatible.

Since the OP has an EB, its possible that the DOL feature doesnt matter, so possibly EBII->EL would be suitable - assuming its a manual :)

Also gives you the option to drive thermo fans if you choose to do so.

Very correct. I had assumed Auto as that had been far more common.. but fair call
