that i dont know as never replaced one ... other than a smallish pin holds gear on shaft? and ya knock it out gently?
hopefully someone WITH more experience can answer ya correctly

Ok, so if i dont replace the gear will the dizzy still work properly?

I thought the only reason people were swapping the gears over was because non genuine dizzy gears were chewing the aux shaft, but bosch has started making good genuine ones again so that isn't necessary anymore? I stuck mine straight in, has been good for 10000km now.

Well i am buying a Bosch Dizzy off ebay and i will put it in.
Any Tips for putting the dizzy in and taking it out? |

Take the cap off and don't do it when the engine is hot, haha. Your forearms will thank you.

Haha ok,
But when butting it back in how do i line it up and the timing? Also my car is on LPG so how can i adjust the timing for that and petrol? |

Turn the motor till it's tdc and rotor button facing cylinder one, pull old one out and slot the new one in. When putting it in the rotor will turn because of the helical gear. To overcome this te button wants to be just before cylinder one in firing order.

OK, and when i am retiming it i have my car on Dual fuel so i want it to run good on both.
As i have read stories of people changing the dizzy and timing it correctly but the car runs like crap. |

Have the engine lined up on TDC compression stroke. The dizzy should have markings labeled start and finish on the base plate. Line up the rotor on start and if you insert it correctly, the rotor should end up on finish. I don't know if the ELs have it like EBs, but there may be a marker on the balancer for 10 deg BTDC. If you line the pointer up with that one, install distributor, the base timing should be pretty close.
And make sure you tighten the hold down clamp properly. I found out the hard way what happens if you don't. Being 1 tooth retarded didn't help either lol.

Rotate the dizzy...... Maybe u should read up on it, do a search
