Hi Guys,

I have just been ringing around chiptorque and unichip to get quotes for an install.

Chiptorque: $1300.00
Inclueds: 1 hour pre dyno
Blank chip for custom program
4 hours dydo for tuning
Car required for 2 days

However, the unichip guys asked if they could steer me away from the chip and go for the Ford Flash Tuner from CAPA. I had never heard of this. They reckon $1800 for the install and upto 50 extra rwkw, WOW!!!
It has four programs loaded into it and at the flick of a switch you can choose what program to run on. One of the programs wont rev above 3500rpm just incase the wife needs to drive the car ect....

$1800 sounds like allot of money, but for an extra 50rwkw, on top of my 160rwkw, its worth having a look into.

Heres a cut and paste from the CAPA site.

No Wires.

No Cutting of Original Car Wiring Loom.

Total Flexibility in Loading Different Preset Programs.

Return Computer Back to Standard at Any Time.

One Box can be cleared and used on another car for as many as 5 cars, so a $1,297 investment over 3 different cars has to be the most inexpensive tune ever at under $450 per car.

The Ford Flash Tuner really gives you the best of both worlds. A Great tuning product at a great price.

Has anyone heard of this Ford Flash Tuner, and if so, what are your thoughts. All the info can be found on the CAPA web site.

Cheers

Someones must be on drugs the flash tuner is for BA not AU as far as I know.

I would love to know if they can do a flash tune for the AU but I bet i am right here.

Also 50rwkw from a tune now lets be sensible for a moment.

Sure you will get a better fuel and ign control but for that sort of gain you would need a bit more than software tuning.

I think 10-20 rwkw and not all at peak revs will be possible though and thats good.

You will find that 50RWKW is on the XR6 Turbo. And since most of it is from upping the boost you will also want better intercooler and will be on the limit of the std injectors.

What's this about a tuner for EECV ?? very interested....

Yeah,

My bad fellas, the guy I spoke to presumed I had a BA and not an AU. I went over to see them, and as soon as they clicked that I drove an AU, the appologys came quick. So the Flash tune is not for me, obviousely, but I am still on the hunt for a chip.

But, yes, if you have a BA XR6 Turbo you could expect gains of upto 50rwkw.

EMS stinger.......... supplied fitted & dyno tunned $1650.00 (6 cylinder)

& I can even switch the VCT at a specified rpm with one of the outputs.
You can pay alot more & get a lot less.

Have you had this fitted? If so, what were your before and after results?

We did a turbo install to an AU VCT earlier this year was'nt intrested in a before resault... as totaly changed power out put, but can retune to suit boost output any time last run 215rwkw @11 psi & we have it back for more retunning & more boost plus other mods.... will post results when done, we have another AU coming in a week or so to fitt a Stinger as well... owner is getting turbo installed...(stiddy) At the end of the day the befores & afters are only as good as the engines built & tunners to get max power (& I know Mark builds good engines).

Just another option availble

Thanks

That will be their J3 chips similar to Chiptorque. Think they call them "Memmaster"?

That's the one. They are provided as part of the blower kits... works a treat on my setup, running on a stock motor so the 'off the shelf' tune on there is OK.

$250 to reprogram IIRC...

I've got one.

It was $1200 for the tuner and four programs. The car is a 6-pot BA XT. The end result was about 170rwkw. The four programs are the factory BA tune, a 'valet mode' with a rev limiter (mine's at 3000rpm) for when someone borrows the car, and two optimized tunes, one for 92ron and one 98ron fuel. Took about a day to install.

It really is very easy to use, just plug in the tuner to a port under the dash and it takes two or three minutes to backup the old program and write the new one. Well worth it.

Well I sent them an e-mail about their chip in regards to my EL and here is what I got back. -Other ppl need to e-mail them!! This will be great news for ppl who are pushing the limit of their ECU's. Remember the quoted price of this thing is $400 less than the BA flashtuner!

HI There,

These units will be available soon.. They are actually on the site to gauge
the feedback we get.. Stay in touch over the next 3 months as we will have a flash tuner available for the earlier Fords EB-AU..

Regards,

Scott.
