Had a new aftermarket fuel pump fitted and exhaust fitted last week and i have now noticed a constant rattle even when the car is idling. i can open the boot while car is running and hear the rattle louder there, seems to be coming from pump.

Anybody had this problem before? or is it just a cheap a** fuel pump sound that u live with.

New rubbers where fitted to the pump to hold it on the bracket. and everything was clamped up tight (pipes onto and return etc.)

and the fuel pickup/filter only goes on one way.

would there be anything around there that can free rattle? sounds like some ones jiggling the fuel cap... and yeah checked that first thing lol.

theres no fuel leaks or fuel smell and due to pump replacement car starts first time! instead of after 3X10 seccond turns of the key.

When i did the fuel pump in my EB it had a thick cable tie also holding it in the sender unit. Did yours have that and if it did did you put on another cable tie?

No cable tie before or after or originally.

Dead tight, i reckon its slipped outta one of its rubber washers.

meh its not overly loud will check it if it gets worse or breaks. might be a fault with the pump itself or just a cheap pump sound... its functioning correctly as far as i can tell.

Turns out it was the pump and hence cause the noise and surging and missing.

Tip number 2 dont buy fuel pumps off ebay.

or distributers... JUST DONT.

http://stores.shop.ebay.com.au/efipumps ... m14?_pgn=1

Ebay user name efipumps

Culprit pump seller.

Guys says "Yes that is normal. All fuel pumps make noise."

Sounded like it was made from grinding rocks.....
fitted new aca fuel pump this arvo. no noise, runs fine without miss and no power loss now :-D
