G'day,
I have just put a j3 chip into my el xr6 auto. Just want to know if there is away of telling if it's working. Should the difference stand out like dogs balls? Or have I not cleaned the pins enough. Yes I am new to all of this so please have patience. It's just a stock tickford xr6. 2.5" cat back but restricted heaps untill a throw more money at it. I picked the car up for $1000 so I'm happy. what sort of tune on the j3 did you get, or did you buy a j3 with nothing on it

I brought it tuned for my cars specs but no dyno tune. I am unsure what to expect from it or how to tell i installed it right.
I did notice my trans whined when first put in, seems ok now. Cheers, lunk. |

your saying the chip has the xr6 tune? That means the chip has the tune loaded from an xr6 onto it, so If I put the chip in say a el gli, it would give me the same thing as running an xr6 computer in it, but if you put the chip in an xr6 it makes no difference

The guy said he has tuned it to get the most out of my car, an el xr6. He said it is a safe tune cause he couldn't dyno the car and fully customize the chip getting the max out of it.
Its not just an xr6 tune he tuned the chip to get more out of my xr6, from what I'm told. |

It was new, come from LMG performace. He took my cars details and said he will burn it and send it off but it will be a safe tune.

I knew I was getting rippe but it included post and a custom tune and I got it same day. I live K's from a performance shop.
Now I've established I've been ripped I just wanna know is there a way to tell if it's working. |

wow you got ripped. i bet it's the exact same tune as a factory XR one

Yeah that's how I installed it, but what are the signs it's working. My guess is he has tuned the chip but only slightly better than a stock xr6 tune due to not seeing the car or being able to tune it to the car. Well I hope anyway. It gets more stuff done this week then gets dynoed and j3 gets retuned.
