As it basically says above guys, would it be worthwhile replacing the injectors in my el? The car has done about 250,000km and I not planning to do any turbo or super charging to it. Just wanna see if it's worth the money to do this before I have the car tuned?

Cheers

Unless they are playing up, no point if you have not done any mods that will require more fuel than the stock injectors can flow.

If you are only looking at fitting standard ones again, and your current ones are working well, I wouldnt bother, if on the other hand, you are fitting bigger injectors, it could be worthwhile depending on your other mods.

Thanks for the help guys :D
Yeah well I have only done those standard mods with exhaust, cam, diff. Gona put the xr6 fuel regulator in (300kpa) and sounds like save cash on buying some injectors.

A while ago my EF started chewing through $30 worth of petrol A DAY!!! and then I pulled out the injectors... they were clogged with residual oil and gunk. On eBay I got a catch can for $14 (score!!) and then I picked up a complete fuel rail assembly from an AU XR6 which just happened to have a 3.5 bar regulator (350kPa) - only $30 complete with a set of AU injectors! No more crap in the manifold, more power and better economy, under $50. It pays to shop around...

It's worth pulling them out and getting them cleaned though

The place I use to use is in Carrum Downs. Back then he charged $20 each if you removed them. As I don't have the need anymore I haven't been there in a while, so I don't know if that price is still current.

Place was called auto gas connection

some injector cleaner in your tank may be an option.

Thanks mad max ! I asked another place and they were asking 38 for each injector getting a bit to pricey considering standard ones brand new cost under 200 bucks.

And I have used some injectors cleaners before but because I cant see the physical difference it all might just be a placebo effect.

The main advantage of taking them out and having them professionally cleaned is that the spray pattern can also be checked. Tank additives and the on car cleaning systems don't allow for that.

Don't the AU injectors have a four hole spray pattern where as E series had one? AU's are higher flow too?... Could be worth changing... I found the AU ones with bigger throttle body, cam, extractors and extra compression head worked well..... Not sure about economy though...

Yeah well that's the only issue with the in tank injector cleaner I put some in the other day just to clean em through a bit.
An that's also the advantage of having them taken out and cleaned is they fix the spray pattern and all that if something is wrong with any of them.

I have heard similar thoughts about the AU ones as well they would be worth a try but how much do ya reckon a set of 6 would go for? To bad for the economy huh !
