I got a EL police ECU in my car and has the 5800rpm limiter and no speed limiter (winds past 200 on speedo and was clocked on a private raceway at 240kph (@4600 rpm and still climbing)

Yep shiftpoints are different and the torque reduction around 2500rpm is much less than other bins.
This will likely lead to premature transmission failure.
Also the police tune uses more fuel.

I would ignore the "police/xr6/std" ECU issue and go right to the heart of the issue - you need to define and control what tune is running in your car.
The TI Performance J3 chip is exactly what you need, and it's cheap.
While there's a fair bit of work in making tunes for your car, and you probably need a WB02 datalogger to get it right, TI can build two/three tunes for you which should be pretty good and you can then swtch between them with the TI switch kit. Performance (both PULP/E10 and ULP) and economy.
Use it on economy when punting around to save fuel and driveline stress, and switch it to Performance when you want a bit of fun...

There are other ways to do this OFC with CAPA flash ect but I like the TI stuff - it's cheap and all Aussie. Plus you can fiddle with it yourself and get a better understanding of your car in the process...
