what do u think of the ignition adv on this stock fairlane VCT ecu .. it goes (-) negative sometimes as high as -9 deg on the initial stab of the throttle ..(this run it only went -0.25 deg) ..

motor doesnt really start producing good power till 4000rpm .. doughy down low .. is this normal for stock?

the main run advance was the following:

BASIC QUESTION ..

1. can i leave the j3 chip in the ECU when i burn a new tune?

2. also is it ok to leave the ribbon connector connected to the J3 and just unplug the burner .

i can see pulling the chip and ribbon on off too many times is going to eventually damage things ..

Not sure why I haven't been getting notifications on this thread...

The table scales are in inHGa. The 'a' is important or you will have the table upside down. This is covered in the tuning guide.

The other questions are also covered in the instructions. You need to remove the chip to burn, and unplug the ribbon and programmer when done. If you apply the tape to the ECU right, you can remove the chip without undoing the ECU bracket and have the chip out in 30 seconds or less.

Cheers,
Jason

As the guide says, the ECU picks the lowest value, so 50 effectively disables the table.

How do you know that log is accurate? Are you sure you're at 30inHGa the whole time? What are ACT & ECT like?

There are many modifiers to the actual vs commanded spark but half the advance seems a little odd if all other parameters are within normal operating conditions.

Jason

im logging via elm327 using forscan ... its obd data ... ive got a pic earlier of a sample log .. no reason to suspect bad data ..

there must be another table (or something) commanding spark bellow 3000/4000 ..???

could software offset effect things? this is an old chip i bought off u maybe 5 years ago ..

not getting any LTFT happening ... 12CD AU VCT auto bin..

is it due to any of these values?

max change is less than the min change (.3 vs .8)

and all 3s in the table seems wrong ..

are these bins 100% stock?
