I'm up to the wiring on the Fordrunner at the moment and I'm in a bit of a tense struggle with my instrument technician. We both acknowledge that there are electronic boxes which convert hall effect to reed switch (3 wire to 2 wire VSS) signals but we are at loggerheads over the pulse rate.

The only information I have is that the US spec ECU's required a pulse rate of 8000 pulses per mile with VSS output of 8 pulses per rev. The toyota on the other hand was either 4000 or 10000 pulses per mile with a sensor output of 4 pulses per rev.

The only Australian data on speedo pulses per km are for the commodore which are 6100 or 1250 pulses per km depending on VN-VP or VR-VS.

Does anyone know the pulses per km and pulses per rev of an EB-EL falcon V8 by any chance? Are they same as the 8000 per mile for the 88-95 mustangs or did the Australian ECu's have a specific speedo pulse input?
