Hi Guys, it has been a while since I last posted here. I am now the owner of a BA Fairmont Ghia with a 220kw 5.4 litre 24 valve V8 engine.
I need to know where the KAM (Keep Alive Memory) fuse is located in the BA fusebox and what does this memory keep in it ?? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give. :D

I'm not sure which fuse it runs through without a wiring diagram, but it is usually one named engine or ECU or ECM.

As for what the memory does, the main thing is it keeps the short and long term fuel trims in its memory. Basically by using the oxygen sensor it gets to know what the engine likes in terms of fuel mixtures as they are all slightly different. By resetting the memory it will have to re-learn all this. Most times you wont notice any differences, but in older cars with worn injectors, fuel pump and pressure regulator the pressures can vary a bit and this is why it needs to remember the fuel trims.
