 Post subject: 97 Festiva Cooling Fan

My wife's 97 Festiva ,the Cooling Fan dose not seem to come on, When I turn A/C on the inside fan runs, but not the external fan even when motor is v/hot, how can I check fan opperation? :? :roll:

ok [1] buy a 12 volt test light[2] test fuses and fusible links[3] find temperature switch not temperature sender[4] find radiator fan relay[5] find fan connector.[6] test relay where it plugs into for battery positive,ignition positive ,earth from temp switch and use a length of wire to feed battery positive to the fan to see if it works....call an autoelectrician if you can't do any of the above.It can be rather complicated and the advice given is generally something like a guide line and each car is different .For instance you may disconnect the temp switch and the fan will start working or you can earth out the temp switch and it may work or the ecu may control the fan using the temp sender as a reference point.if you are confident buy a test light and a manual.Cheers Kevman :P
