Thanks for the useful tips.

After using my multimeter and going to two different auto electricians with the first one not giving a s**t saying it was the alternator, the second guy found the problem and it was...

A glazed fan belt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 AArrgghhhh

So ive just found this post via google as im having the exact problem with my ford capri 91. Just paid $250 for an alternator repair only for it to keep losing power after just 2 weeks

What exactly does a glazed fan belt mean? does it mean it just needs a new one?

A glazed belt is one which slips ,it has no friction it is very shiny,buy a new belt.And make sure it is tensioned properly.And charge up your battery using a decent charger not a 4/6 amp piddly thing oooh I said piddly how bizarre.I hope this answers your question.CHEERS Kevman.
