Hi guys. I find myself back on these Forums asking for help.

So my EF is having an issue and Iv'e spent $$$ and time at Mechanics with no luck.....A total of 7 days infact at 3 different shops with no luck, Iv'e had to listen to these monkeys sit there and say it's this it's that it may be this. I'm at my whits end, the car is sitting there with bird s**t all over it i don't even want to touch it.

My car sputters when it's hot It runs great when cold, The sputtering goes away when i boot it. The sputtering comes back when i lightly apply the make go faster pedal. Now I'll list the things Iv'e replaced so it's easier to brain storm ideas.

Spark Plug/Leads all replaced
Coil Pack Replaced
Fuel Filter Replaced
All Inlet Manifolds Replaced
Gasket Inlet Manifold Replaced
O2 Sensor checked and good
Radiator Flushed checked and good

Things not done

Injectors
Fuel Lines
Fuel Pump
Head Gasket (Tho pretty simple to tell if it's busted)
???

Any and all help is very appreciated. After reading and blah blah Iv'e come to the conclusion it's either the Dizzy cap and or Injectors, any thoughts? Thanks again for any help.

Problem solved, It was the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). A $45 piece of plastic staring me in the face was the problem. The TPS controls everything to do with Revs and Acceleration and Idle. Best way to test if your TPS is faulty is to actually unplug it and run the car, if you get steady Revs it's faulty.

So if you have hesitation when accelerating or bad idle it's not always going to be the spark plugs or the coil pack or the leads or the injectors or the gasket inlet manifold or the head gasket, or anything Iv'e listed above. Thanks to anyone who attempted to help.

#1 its an ef. There is no dissy cap.
#2 why do you think its easy to tell if its a hg failure? They can go between the cylinders and no coolant loss.
Do a hot and a cold comp test. Also check your fuel pressure with a mechanical guage. Seeing as tho its only when hot sound to me like possibly a cracked head thats opening up with heat

#1 Came from a mechanic
#2 They said they checked the head gasket, and also told me this problem would have nothing to do with the HG.

I think what really needs to happen is the car hooked up to a diagnostic computer, all this maybe's and might's cost a lot of money, just recently 220 for the manifolds. And if I replace the injectors that's $252 for a set of 6 genuine's.

Well, if your "mechanic" said it was the dizzy cap, then he is a bloody idiot.

Unplug the map sensor and see how it goes then.

The issue you are having sound like an O2 sensor. They are overriden at cold by the cold start program and only operate at temp. they also are only control in a rev range of idle to around 2000 or so rpm (approx).

We played with the idea of it being the O2 sensor and he said not worth checking because if *Anything* was wrong with it the engine light would come on. See what i deal with?

Your "mechanic" is a total idiot. There is no engine light on the EF to come on.

Get a new mechanic fo F... Sake.

It this the same car with the full rebuild?

Is this the engine you gave to your mate and told him to "go nut" with it?

New mechanic? Yeah let's try a 4th. Ringing up Southern MotorWorks tomorrow and going to have the car hooked up to a computer. Either that or keep spending money on peoples maybes.

Yeah same car but this issue didn't exist back when i bought it this problem is only months old. For all i know if could be clogged fuel line or clogged injector. Not sure just hope that a diagnostic check will tell me.

Well...it may be a bad Throttle position sensor, Just checked it not only is it loose but there's quite a lot of black tape on the wires.

A new revelation has surfaced. This problem only happens on a full tank of fuel, when it reads below half a tank it runs like a beast.

Now i thought it only did it when the car was hot but that may of just been because the car...was hot, it never really hit me that the problem got worse every time i filled up and continued to be worse until it started to get empty.

Thats in an ea. Which is wired for a dissy. An ef falcon doesnt have a dissy. No one said it cant, they are basically the same block. You can run a dissy in an ef but you would have to run an el ecu and wiring. Not worth it in my opinion

Anyone considered possibly tank ventilation problem or fuel return?
Next time it's playing up take the fuel cap off and see if that helps.

That's a good thought will try it, next move is have all 6 injectors flushed. I'm really trying to put off the $252 to replace them if they simply need a clean. Also on a side note what is a normal temp for the car to sit on after roughly....40 minutes of driving. Mine sits around the M on Normal.
