1. when installing vernier gear, what is the part called that you replace?

2. when installing an exhaust (or even extractors), are there any sensors that can be disconnected? and can this lead to a decrease in car performance?

thats all for now.
cheers
have a good weekend folks.

1. The cam gear
2. Oxygen sensor for extractors, and yes this sensor can affect performance.

right...and if u get an exhaust shop to work on your exhaust, should you be p****d off if they forget to re connect the O2 sensor!

so the 'cam gear' is what you take out, then you put in the vernier gear?

Yep, a vernier gear is just a cam gear that can be adjusted, so you are basically taking out a 'fixed' cam gear and replacing it with an adjustable cam gear.

and yep, exhaust places should know better, but everyone makes mistakes

the o2 sensor is mounted in the exhaust headers/extractors so has to be removed for obvious reasons. It connects to a plug on the drivers side shocker tower.

all headers/extractors have a hole to screw the O2 sensor into.

its just a plug that goes ontot he extractors.

you wont have to worry about it if your just installing the exhaust from the cat back.

why would they disconnect your o2 sensor when they fit a tailpipe? cant imagine it would run too well.

if they welded your tail pipe on they would need to disconnect it, you would not want them to leave it connected and have a spike from an electric welder go throygh you ecu, silly mistake but not as bad as not disconecting it

And the exhaust is connected to the engine which is connected to the frame which is connected to the ecu... That is why you unplug the ecu when you weld :)

so they disconnected it for that reason..fair enough..just didnt put it back on..very unprofessional.

also...remember rushed when i said my car sounds like its misfiring / skipping. that could have contributed to it.
