Just wondering why the 3.9 is said to have 139kw and the 4.0 148kw does the extra 100cc make that much difference or is it the ecu? Or something else im talking about ea eb

there is really only 40cc difference from the 3.9 to 4.0l.
it comes down to compression ratio and the 3.9 has smaller intake ports.. |

Ah ok thanks so would a 4l head work on the 3.9 cos the 2 engines look exactly the same do they have the same block?

I beleve they are the same bore with a slightly different stroke (someone correct me if I'm wrong) But yes a 4.0i Head will work no issues on a 3.9i

Thanks guys i thought as much easy upgrade till i get a au motor just gotta do some reasearch on how vct is gonna work in the ea

I have an EA 3.9 head on my 4.0 ( ED )....using the 4.0 rocker gear, and currently using an EF XR6 camshaft ( had an EA MPFI cam before )......in a few weeks, I'll get it dyno'd....but first I will need to fine tune it a bit more.......I had 150 rwkw before the changes.
