G'day voxace and others with cam upgrades,

Just got my new cam from Wade cam's in oakleigh, (Melbourne) spoke to the guys down there and ended up going for the 1004-112 (Mid-range) cam grid.

Voxace, Is there any setup problems with the install of this cam, i will be following your suggestions that i replace various value seals and retain stock valve springs, i'm going to use 12x Metal 1.9mm spacers (which i'm getting from ford) which one of the guys at wade's specified is needed. im using my local mechanic for the install, but im wondering if i need some pro workshop to get it right First Time!

cheers Twstd EB

cheers

hope to get it done early next week! can't wait... now the only decision, tuned length paceys or scavenger (??) extractors to suit!! i really want more pull mid range torque to match the 1004 cam grind.

Knowing that at your age it would be incredibly expensive and illegal to drive a supercharged car...

We need to know what model car this blower is going on!

Hey fella's, just like to say this is a great site for young guys who love Fords to do some personal mods to their cars, but im inquiring about the installation of EF/EL/AU thermos on my EBII, as i hate the sound of that god damn clutch fan. :x :x On the advice of my local radiator specialist, i was told that it was not a good idea to do so as it will dramatically reduce the efficiency of the radiator's cooling. Last thing i want is to do is to cook my motor. I was just wondering if anyone (i know Voxace has) has had any experience of putting thermos on an EBII and if they have noticed a change in the motors running temp. Cheers.

I dodn't think you'll find anyone here say that it's a bad mod. :?

I fitted el thermos to my eb2 and found engine to be alot quieter, smoother, quicker warm up and some power increase. Temp sits on quarter most of the time and rises to half when idlin in traffic for a while. Cost $270 for fans and $40 for adjustable temp switch. Also put 82 degree thermostat,ef thermostat cover housing,ef top hose and xh snorkel. No dramas so far after 9 months. :D :D :D

How does the wade cam compare to the jmm cams there is such a massive difference in price and i've read the jm cams secrets are out. Also how much should a vernier cam gear cost?

Mr Ed.

Veneir Timing Kit is about $ 180 give or take some.
Regarding the JMM cam kits, is like comparing apples and oranges. I think JMM might get a little more extra power. He has found ways of getting bigger cams into the E-series without messing up the idle too much, where others may have not. But the price is higher.

For a mildey worked car, I would go with wade.

Or seen with YobboFord's E-series wagon with Cresent Motorsport upgraded cam (stage one from memory) ... there was a 30rwkw increase with the installation of this cam alone.

Not a bad improvement for cam alone. Idle is perfect ... no upgraded ECU needed at all. And at a pretty decent price.

Was installed at the dyno day recently ... power figures were:
120kw before
150kw after.
