What to Do......

I was wondering if it is worth Spending $1600 on a mild Crow cam, extractors and clean the head up and drop the compression on a 3.9 CPI.

OR

Buy a newer 4 ltr car for a over 4 grand.

If I go with option one will this will beat a 4lt easy and also Cummodores?

go a 3.2

:)

U can pick up 4.0l engines pretty cheap now. I saw one going for $450 somewhere the other day. Im not sure on this but you may have to also consider smartlock issues if you go for say an EB11 or EF/EL engine

I don't mean to offend anyone with this post, but CPI EA's really aren't good for much at all. Personally I would buy another car, even another EA. By that I mean for the CPI to make any power it's going to need mpfi. But in the end you will still have a taxi spec GLi, just with MPFI. I'd say sell it and buy an EF as these days good ones can be found for your price range very easily ($3500-$4500) Or another idea. Stay with the EA, find a Fairmont Ghia (front/rear power windows, full velour trim, climate control etc) as they were already multi-point and possibly had an LSD. Full 5-speed conversions can be had for around $500 if you look hard enough. Cam's aren't expensive, once again look hard in for sale forums. Same goes for extractors and exhaust. Nice and cheap yet still got class + it'l hose stockish VN, VR, VS's V6's with ease

I gotta say piss off the EA dude. Even if u buy an ED and work it?

Can't agree with that. Ef engines had more hp and torque than the VS V6. The reason Commo's rocket off the line is more to do with there 1st gear being mile shorter than the fords auto. Hence saying a manual conversion is a great bang for buck if it can be found cheap enough, as the first gear in the 5 spd is far shorter than that of the auto. That said Ef's with auto's even with 3.08 diff gears don't need a great deal of work to match an ecotec in 0-100.
