Hi

I just bought a '93 EB as a spare parts bin for our cars. I have a 90 EAII 30th Anni wagon with 3.9 CFI and 4 speed Auto. My wife has a 92 EBII S Pack 4.0L/4 speed auto. This "new" EB will be gutted for the various bits with the trans, maybe diff, going into my wife's car and the engine going into mine. Apparently the Smartlock in the later EB failed and a sparky bypassed it so are there any more things I should look out for when doing the transplant? I have read a document on transferring MPFI units to CFI cars but nothing on complete engine transplants.

I also have a 90 EA S Pack that I am stealing the dash out of so I have all the dials etc. This car was going to be the original donor (3.9 MPFI/4 Speed Auto) but the EB came up so I went with that...

Any info/ help appreciated.

Cheers
Bruce

once the engine is removed the smartlock means and does nothing..it' a straight swap over,if your keeping the cfi,but if your converting over to mpfi then you'll need the wireing loom,,you'll need the engine loom for the injecters and tps etc..and i think the ecu look as well...

yer you will have to transplant the ecu as well. I have a nonsmartlock MPi ECU that would be useful if you cant bypass smartlock when you transfer it

Thanks guys

So it is pretty much like just the MPFI conversion. On the smartlock thing, I do have an MPFI ECU in the other 90 S-Pac (3.9 MPFI), would that be OK or are they specific to the engine size?

Oh, and I am definitely going MPFI, that is most of the reason for the transplant...

Cheers
Bruce

I think smartlock is 3 parts - ignition switch, ECU and BEM thingie.....

I have override modules available, which will allow you to use a smartlock ECU without the smartlock module connected.

Thanks again

I am pretty sure the smartlock has been disabled due to an earlier problem with it. I'll know more tomorrow when I pick the car up...

Cheers
Bruce
