was just wondering what the average cost of a basic bottom-end rebuild would be for a standard 6
The head is pretty good but I might reco it later, I'm just going to focus on building a reliable bottom end as I plan on giving the car to my little sister as her 18th birthday present

is there a specific re-build kit I can look at?

Cheers

I know ACL make race series rebuild kits... http://www.aclperformance.com.au/Ford4. ... ildKit.htm

I got quoted just under $1000 for the full kit.

Not sure if they make stock rebuild kits or of any other companies sorry.

I'd get it bored and decked at least. More expensive as you need new pistons but worth it if you plan on having the engine some time.

Get block decked and head re-surfaced/straightened. I'm don't know much in regards to boring/honing, but I hear it does good things to engines...but at a price as Deff said.

Give an engine rebuilder a ring and see what they can organize for you in regards to parts, while you're at it, ask them the cost for them to do it as well.

$1500 ain't too bad at all IMO if they're going to supply the parts and have it ready to jam in the car again.

$1500 will only be for a basic re-ring and bearing with quick ball hone on the cyls.
Just get an exchange short motor from HM GEM or the likes.
