the BF has an optional 6 speed auto available.
i'd be inclined to say it'd need a custom bell housing.
shifter location wouldn't be too different at a guess.

you'd also need the electronics to run it. while i imagine it could be done in the long term, it would currently be a very expensive option.

The manual T56 6 speed box will fit an e-series with a modified bell housing. This leads me to believe that the 6 speed auto would fit with a custom bell housing as well.

However....because this is a 'thinking' gearbox, I'm not too sure about compatibility issues with the ecu.

The gearbox would be worth more than the car

The 6-Speed does not have a seperate bellhousing. It's integral to the maincase.
Shifter location shouldn't matter, the shifter is only connected by a cable same as the 4-speeds.

In theory it could all be done quite well if you converted to a BF 6-Speed ECU at the same time.

Might as well buy a BF. :-)

But would a BF ecu work with the SOHC 4.0L?
Doubt it.
If any of the cars will it will either be the EFs or AUs as they have coil packs and not dizzys.

Don't worry, either way, I doubt you'd be able to adapt the BF/BA ecu to a previous SOHC falcon. Meaning good luck doing the transmission IF it needs that ecu to give it info.

Get my drift. Of course, this is if you have an infinite amount of money!

Nah the BF has 6 speed auto. Sounds very enticing if you are an auto fan!
