hey nice work. I guess it might be a bit of a task getting specs from some cam manufacturers?

Surecam
to list only few dont list specs.

if any one knows of them post them up and i'll add to the list.
do not PM them to me.

also might help if we all post our verdict of the cams we have all used

I don't get it ? all you have done is C&P off the websites ?

Most people wouldn't be able to understand what all those numbers mean anyway.

i surely did just cut paste. It's mostly to stop the all the posts asking "Whats the specs of XXXX cam?"

and it gives a quick and easy reference for people to use when asking and answering the hundreds of cam realated questions we get every month.

For the people that don't what it all means this thread will be a good place to ask the question and have it answered. But a quick search would find it"s been asked and answered a number of times.

ok then. so how about we start with lift.

Lobe lift- is the difference in height between the radius of the base circle and the height of the eccentric (the height of the bumpy bit if you will)

valve lift is is the distance the valve is lifted from its seat. almost all quoted valve lift numbers are as measured with ZERO lash. (valve clearence set to ZERO)
valve lift is the product of lobe lift and the rocker ratio. in the case of the I6ohc engine it will be lobe lift by 2 for pre EL hybrid and by 1.8 for hybrid and AU spec engines.

Duration- is the time IN DEGREES OF CRANKSHAFT ROTATION that the valve is lifted off its seat. crow cams 2222546 has a duration of 290deg on both the intake and exhaust lobes.

Timing- expressed as in35/75 ex75/35 (crow cams 2222546) is the point in crankshaft rotation that the valve is unseated and seated (for lack of a better term) by the cam shaft. in this case the intake valve is unseated 35 BTDC and is seated again at 75 ABDC
and the exhaust valve is unseated at 75 BBDC and seated at 35 ATDC

i'm not going to sit here all night and explain every thing, but i'll ad to it later

There are some really good pages on the net explaining each and how they change things like idle quality, torque, peak power, power band, and economy. I would suggest anyone who is interested does a google search and post links to pages you find helpful.

Here's something I've had sitting on my PC for a couple of years...
Might be a bit out of date.

That's awesome man. When you can see when something has rotated X degrees away from it's starting point, adding the below and above top or bottom dead centre references explains it much better to me.

Understood the theory of duration and lift, but not knowing where the the measurements(degrees away from) started from didn't make sense to me prior to reading this :D

(am a little trashed lol ^ hope this reads well later!!)

I remember there was a shortage a while back, no one could get a billet cam.
