Hey,
We've got an EF Fairmont,
we've had the condensor, and evaportator replaced, but it still looses all the gas within 6months, it is getting really bad.
the vacum in the car are loose, so could this be the culprit.
we're running out of ideas, but we are sure its not the condesor, or the evaporator...
help us please!
thanks,

Mitch

no errors in the diagnostics...

dude, when u get it gassed up, get them to stick some uv dye in it, check all the fittings are tight.
if it leaks from anywhere, they get a special uv light and the dye glows fluoro yellow, which will indicate the leak.
we do this at my work

the place that gassed it up will put a uv light on it, and will be able to see the leak

well it should show up, maybe the leak is under the dash?'
i wouldnt' know enought to be able to say 100%, but if it's leakin, the dye will be visible, that's why they put it in

The UV dye mixes with the oil in the air cond system. The oil circulates freely within the pipes, it isn't captive in the compressor. If there is a refrigerant leak, no matter how small, the oil will seep out with the gas. This is how the UV light picks up the leak.
If the person looking at it is sure they have checked every component under the bonnet, and no leak is found then the bad news is it's probably under the dash.
The constant hiss you mentioned - Is this happening with the car sitting and engine off, or only when the air cond is operating?

If it's hissing when the air cond is running it's most likely low on gas, the TX valve will hiss loudly when the system is low. If you have some time make yourself a strong solution of dish detergent and water in a spray bottle, grab a torch and mirror and check all the connections in the air cond system that you can see. Make sure you do this when the engine is cold. Spray the solution liberally on the joints and use the torch and mirror to look for bubbles, also check the service ports aren't leaking. Check the dryer and compressor too. Go slow and patiently. It sounds like the air cond has a pretty small leak. You can also spray it onto the condenser and all the piping and look for bubbles/foam, there could be a porous pipe somewhere. Don't be afraid to soak things, it won't damage them. Good luck.
