Hi all, I am helping a mate swap an 6 cyl engine from an AU sedan build date 03/00 in to an AU wagon build date 09/98. is there any isuues I must be aware of?

Should be a straight swap over, But depends if the 03/00 motor is series 2 (i don't know the change over date) if it is outta a series 2 the upper manifold would have to be changed

As stated the manifolds from series 1 and 2 are different

You will need to keep running the 98 computer with this conversion also as 98 model still had the smartlock modules whereas the 00 had smartshield (totally different systems)

I would connect all the accessories off the motor you pull out of 98 model to the new 00 motor, then just matter of connecting everything up and off you go

What you haven't mentioned is if the new motor is VCT or not
If so then you will need to source a pre june 99 ecu and loom out of fairmont ghia or XR6 as these had the VCT with smartlock computers

EDIT

Just noticed you mentioned 09/98 - you should have smartshield in your car, if so then these motors should be direct swap
If VCT you will still need the loom and ECU though
