Hey Guys,

I have recently come into ownership of an AU Tickford engine and am thinking of putting it into my EF.

So far i have researched the following mods i will need to do.

modify sump
au alternator
ef thermo housing
ef aircon compressor and spacers
ef intake and harness
ef oil pressure sensor(xr dash)
ef intake gasket
au sump gasket
ef thermostate housing gasket
au plug and wire for the knock sensor
ef cam angle sensor (the dizzy thing)
au fan belt

Due to the fact that its a tickford engine does this mean i will need to change ECU's???

Anything i have missed??

I do not think you will need to change the bellhousing.
I put an AU 6cyl into my wifes EA, no bellhousing change required

2 of the bolts dont line up with the e series bell housing however (not with boxcars at least) to get the extra 2 bolts to fit you need the au bell housing.

Are the bellhousings on the auto gearboxes detachable/interchangeable?

Yes they are interchangeable in that the BTR box will bolt up to either but the motor end is different between A series and E series. As mentioned the 4 bottom bolts are different and 2 of them plain won't fit.
There are a few (maybe most) that don't worry about it but if you are pedantic like me you need the bellhousing as well. BTW I found retaining the E series knock sensor the best but you need to make an adapter to fit it to the block.

I think this mob used to do the sumps but not sure if they only supply them with their motors. You can always ask them if they will sell you one seperate. Anyone know what they charge for a modified sump alone?.
