Hi all, Yes, i used the search button!!

on my NL i have a WRA2(i think) head, and have been told thats a AU head ... a few people have told me that I can run a cam from a EF/EL AS LONG as i get the EF/EL rocker gear put on too ... is this correct?? I don't want to damage anything, I've been giving a cam by one of my friends, I don't know what it is, but its not a regrind, and has totally different markings on it. I'm wondering if I can use that in my AU head with some EF/EL rocker gear, when its not so cold, I'll get the numbers that are on the cam shaft and see if anyone here knows what they are ... I was told it could be a very mild crow cam ... but is there going to be any different in the AU head from a standard AU cam??

I would even take a photo of the cam with the after market numbers on it.

one of my friends offered to come up today and install it for me, but i just want to be 110% sure that its not going to make any damage!!!! so replies as soon as poss will be great ...

thanks for helping a chick out!!!!

P.S i can take the rocker cover off!!!! but thats about as far as i want to go!!

P.P.S you guys rock!!!

Sommer Girl .

No the Early cams cannot be run in the au head even with the right rocker gear.... because the AU cam journal size is different, i also researched this and found it cant be done!! s**t ay??

i very much doubt it would work. the ef/l have diff rocker ratios so i would b guessing not (cam diff size to allow diff rocker ratios?).
The rocker gear has to be from the same model to fit the head aswell.

fiftyone has a good point tho, you might be able to change the rocker arms to get the same ratio. but then im not sure about it fitting on the head still.

just when u bolt the thing down(if u can), just keep an eye out for things that r gonna go wrong... valves gettin pushed so far into the head they will already hit on the pistons :P(doubt it, but still)... good luck mate, tell us how ya go.

even with the right "ratio" the cam journal size is different on the head... it wont sit on the head tight... it may run if your lucky.
