Well my hilux gets around 17L every hundred km's aroung town and one a trip averages 12L roughly. But before my hilux i had a 94 Holden VR statesman V8 had extractors and twin cats and twin system, cold air intake k&n air filter, serviced and mainted well with over 350,000kms,i do regular trips to the coast over 700kms and the last time i went on a trip the car averaged 7.4L per 100km,no joke had the 80L fuel tanks, had the cruise set 8km's above the speed limit and when needed to over take powered around the cars and set cruise back on and back to cruising.I couldnt believe the fuel average nand then around would average 17L,but previous trips to the coast would average 9.5L,my fiance and i and two big bags,a full esky,a small tool box and 2 other bags, yeah so we had some luggage.I remember i used to have a NL fairlane V8 it would average 8.9L on the coast trip which was really good.

el fairmont auto, only mods like cai, redback catback, good tyre pressure.

Taking it easy, driving normal not real slow.. on freeway (80-95 because of roadworks, westgate, so the revs are or lower than 1800) all way to work and on cruise control. i can get 400kms out of half a tank and 800kms full tank and more than once and with trip computer, distance to empty and kms that i have done says i can a bit more out of tank. Litres per 100 didn't take notice.
No matter what the octane is, it doesn't matter with my car, not better off with 98 (maybe cos needs more mods).

City and suburban driving, driving as above, i can get 270kms half a tank and about 540kms full tank.
