Hi all. My ba turbo has started playing up a bit. On the first turn of the key some times it has very bad crank might turn once and then just stop. When I release the key and try again there is no problem atall. Today it had a very rough start and activated what I think was the engine knock sensor as it sounded very rough as if it was missing and had no power but again once I turned it off and tried again it was % 100. Has anyone has this problem before or can anyone shed some light on the issue for me. Cheers.

Battery on its way out?

Should replace battery every 3-4 years from my understanding...

What these guys suggested or even possibly the starter motor. My bf starter motor was slow to start the car and it eventually died on me.

I would suggest to change the battery. It sounds like the voltage is dropping below 8-9 volts not enough voltage when cranking for the ecu to run.
They also had earth issues from engine block too negative side of battery. To fix this leave the original earth strap but run a new battery cable (2 b&s size) from engine block too negative side of battery terminal. You will need to replace the battery terminal thou.

Battery's have a life span of 2 years. Anymore then that you are doing well.
Take it to a mechanic or battery shop with a load tester. Will tell you in 10 seconds if the battery is stuffed or not.
