Hey guys atm im running a custom grind cam in my BA XR6. Im not too happy with it, doesn't seem to have that much more power. i have found this site though which looks promising.
Has anyone seen these cams before or had any experience with this company? It says will increase to 250kw at the fly wheel or 185kw at the wheels. Thats insane power! The website is: http://www.kpmauto.com/tabid/168/Default.aspx

Cheers guys

Jay

that's a lot of money for not what I'd call insane power, probly wouldn't go much better than a 14.7 down the 1/4. Mind if I ask who did the cams you're running now, and is the car tuned?

KPM have a good reputation. As for the cams I don't know, don't know anyone with them.

Midwest Peformance did it. Mate of mine is real handy on cams etc. he did a couple a stages off stock for me.

250 is a lot more then stock true? and thats only cams, i have cold air intake, 90mm tb, 60pound injectors, underdrive pulleys, defillipo extractors and custom exhaust, and sniper tune. so add the cams on should give me insane power :). Future should have me put in a 3.7 diff i think still not sure on that one

Yeah it's about a 70kw gain at the fly. With your other stuff and the right tune you might see mid 220's at the treads

wow 220 at wheels is awesome thats nearly 300 at flywheel? Im aiming for 300 at the wheels eventually but i guess we will see.... eventually it will be turbo'd thats why i have the larger throttle body and the bigger injectors

Hope you've got deep pockets. And say goodbye to drivability and fuel economy. If you plan to turbo it doit now and don't waste the cash on a na setup

Why wont it be drivable? The cash has nothing to do with it. I just want to see how much i can get from a NA BA6 Then when i finish playing around with that i will see how much i can get out of it forced. Cheers

Jay

High power N/A setups are normally very annoying to drive, as with big cams, they can't idle, and have no power until the cam 'comes on' usually at high revs. Makes them difficult/annoying to drive.

oh lame, so it would be better just to chuck my xr6turbo engine in and work with that?

Depends what you're after from it.

But if you want to keep it a daily driver, than big power N/A isn't the best choice. Go charged or turbo.

I coaxed 150RWKW from my EL I6, need to adjust the base idle to 1100rpm, it wouldn't idle any lower than that, had to add a histall torque convertor, and the cam was so big it had nothing below ~3000rpm. It was fun to drive, but drank 20L/100KM.

Also, a lot of the mods you need for a N/A build, are bad for a turbo/blown setup.

So it's best to decide first up what direction you want to go and work towards that. Will save you a lot of effort and $.

Was an RPD custom grind stage 3 (I had the hybrid EL engine).
3.45LSD

That run shows an upped 6250rpm limiter - an no speed limiter (a bad idea).

messy indeed!... lol...

decide.... big power NA or turbo.. but is very much wise deciding on either but not both together. high compression and boosting is a bad combination...
